ABOUT ME

I was born in a small village in the south of Italy.

I didn’t think about going anywhere for a very longtime. One of my first childhood memory is related to a book illustration of the Jules Verne novel “Around the World in Eighty Days”.

That should have been an important clue about my adult life, I guess. However, I actually never dreamed about traveling the world.

That was unthinkable for me.

I visited my first foreign country when I was nineteen.

I took my first flight when I was twenty-one.

The turning point was an Erasmus exchange study in Paris.

Paradoxically, my University career went sideways, while I became aware that being far away from my country was far more natural than I thought.

From that moment I started travelling much more frequently than I ever imagined.

I started with low-cost flights within Europe borders, with my girlfriend back then.

We even decided to move to Ireland at some point. We lived in Dublin for five years. Together we made our first transoceanic trip to the United States.

The breakup of our relationship pushed me to quit my job and make the journey of my life.

I took a train in Rome and got off in Warsaw, then traversed the Baltic Countries by bus; Russia and Mongolia by the Trans – Siberian rail, to finally reach China, inspired by Tiziano Terzani book “A fortune-teller told me.”

I lived in Asia for over a year after that trip.

I wrote in Bali my first novel, Veleno, before returning to Europe.

I simply didn’t like the life in the West anymore, so I decided to move back to Asia, travelling Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam this time.

I started this blog to talk about my travel experiences and my life in general.
